Because before Jesus ascended into heaven, he told his disciples to "go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
What is a disciple?
1. A follower of Jesus Christ. (Wikipedia)
2. A follower; an adherent to the doctrines of another. Hence the constant attendants of Christ were called his disciples; and hence all Christians are called his disciples, as they profess to learn and receive his doctrines and precepts. (Webster's 1828 Dictionary)
If you are a Christian then you are a disciple.
